Quand surgit l’opposition : le stade anal

Abstract : During the anal stage the child feels a pressing need to oppose adults. By transgressing their rules, he is seeking to build his psychic autonomy. This partly involves rejecting the parents who brought him up when he was a baby. The fusional relationship that was created at the oral stage takes on an invasive character. On emerging from this period, the young child thus feels the need to reject this past mode of relating by opposing his parents. This article sets out to describe the manifestations of this opposition and to explain its causes.
